Award

And just so you know these paintings don’t always just go to art fairs and in galleries, I love the opportunity to show online also! I don’t have to consider the distance I have to transport or mail it, or the take-in/out schedule. I entered a couple paintings in the Art Room Gallery ‘Shades of Gray’ show, and not only had one accepted, but won a merit award.

Here’s the winner. Sea Dragon.

Twentynine Palms Shows

I should have done this last week, but sometimes things don’t get on a list…. anyway, these shows are still up for a few weeks left, so if you’re in the area, there’s still time to enjoy them.

The 29Palms Art Gallery has the Guild Summer show in the Main and Center Galleries, and in the West Gallery, Tim Warren and Ted Wright in a 2-person show.

July’s Monthly Newsletter

Here’s my monthly Mailing, this time the story of Spool!

New York and Italy

I was recently invited to join Alessandro Berni gallery for representation in their online gallery. In the last few days we dotted the is and crossed the ts and this morning I was one of the new artists introduced in their mailing.

#1343 Riverbend III.

Newer Work #121

#1460 “Another year’s morning”. Oil on wraparound canvas, 20×24″.$300. Currently at the Summer show at Borrego Art Institute.

I’ve been rather remiss about posting newer works. This one is not-newer enough to have been hanging in the BAI before I got to posting it. I’ve been posting more on Instagram (#skyscapesforthesoul), but would like to post more consistently across platforms. If anyone has a great recommendation for a tool to allow you to do this, I’m all ears. I’ve heard of ‘hootsuite’, but would rather have a one-time purchase than a monthly subscription that they’re asking for.

Mixtiles

I hadn’t heard of Mixtiles until I was approached by them to have my artwork as available reproduction prints through their websites. Mixtiles says they’re ‘The easiest picture frame in the world’, and their frames come self stick, small sizes, so you can create a wall of small images – your own, or select from their curated artwork – or put one or two in a small space. We settled on 30 images to be available, and you can easily order a number of tiles from them to create an instant gallery. Of course I’m also going to give you a link to my page, but if you lose it, just look for Skyscapes For The Soul on their website.

Fusion Art Waterscapes

Was delighted to get an email yesterday that my painting ‘Wiest Lake’ was included in the Fusion Art Waterscapes online exhibition. Thank you Chris and Valerie Hoffman!

Chaparral Artists Judged Show

I was blessed with the help from a friend from Chaparral Artists – Nancy Miehle, who offered to take work in for me to the show, to save me a trip last week. Last Saturday I had been gallery sitting at 29Palms Art Gallery and on the way home stopped at Rainbow Stew to see the Chaparral Artists‘ judged show, that Rainbow Stew hosts in the central gallery. There were three categories “The Hand of Man”, “Nature’s Kaleidoscope” and “Beautiful Creatures”. It wasn’t a huge show, but I was delighted to find that both Nancy and I had won ribbons!

“Beautiful Creatures” entries.
“The Hand of Man” entries.
“Nature’s Kaleidoscope” entries. Top right is Nancy’s winning entry, and to the left, mine.

55+ show

Having gotten to the point in life where I can order from the senior menu, I was eligible to enter the 55+ show “Visions: A gathering of Elders”, and this was it turned out the last time I was able to go to a gathering before the world imploded.  True that people were observing precautions such as elbow bumps vs. handshakes, but otherwise it seems that the elder wisdom was the same as for having a bad cold.  Don’t cough on people, and go home and feel sorry for yourself for two weeks.

Otherwise it was a normal art show.  This was hosted at the Walter N. Marks art gallery at UC Riverside Palm Desert.

55plus_1

I recognized the work of Gary Borgstedt – far right – though I didn’t see him at the opening.

55plus_2

Diane Morgan was also there, she too had a painting in the show.

55plus_3

That scuplture in the middle was very intersting.

55plus_4

One of the two fabric entries

55plus_5

Intersection of the virtual and real worlds.

55plus_6

Such a variety of mediums, subjects and styles with an open-themed show.

55plus_7

I think I had the physically smallest entry in the show.

55plus_8

This lamp was my second favorite entry.

55plus_9

The orange Bee painting to the right of the door is Diane’s.

55plus_10

Donna Miller-Haggerty and I took pics of each other in front of our paintings.

55plus_11

And this one was my absolute favorite.  So sorry, don’t remember the artist’s name at this point.

29 Palms Membership show

Last weekend I was at the 29 Palms Art Gallery pretty much all weekend.  On the Saturday we had an art fair during the day and in the evening was the reception for the Membership Show, which was a judged show.

29pM2020-1

Some of the Artwork in the Main Gallery

29pM2020-2

Sometimes I had to wait until the people moved around.

29pM2020-3

There just wasn’t a good angle on this one for the camera.

29pM2020-4

The Pickering Gallery had a nice selection.  As I was looking around the show early in the morning, I was approached by someone who wanted to buy one of the artworks in there.

29pM2020-5

There was quite a bit of 3-D art.  This one won a ribbon.

29pM2020-6

The West gallery contained something familiar.  Again, I was struggling with glare…

29pM2020-7

I’d seen David’s work before and it was good to finally meet him because he had a booth at the fair that day.

29pM2020-8

On Sunday my co-worker at the gallery was Miri, whose painting is on the left here.  She is also a singer and sang at the reception when I had my first show at the Glass Outhouse Gallery a couple years ago.  I have a CD of hers.

29pM2020-9

Earlier in the month I’d encourage Tim to create something to enter the show.  He won best of show!
